What matters and topics specifically do you work on?
The Master's programme reform, student retention and well-being at AAU.
What are the advantages of allowing students to be on the Academic Council?
Legendary lunches, new acquaintances, pleasant meetings and knowledge about the organization of AAU.
What specifically is your role on the Academic Council?
I am a student representative on the academic council. This means that I participate in meetings and answer (approximately) one email a week.
How much time do you typically devote to the Academic Council?
We have about one meeting every other month. The meetings usually take half a day. In addition, there is of course some preparation time for them. That time varies depending on what and how much is on the agenda.
What skills have you gained by being on the Academic Council?
I’ve gained a more in-depth understanding of how decision-making processes work at the faculty and university levels. I’ve also strengthened my ability to argue and assess issues from multiple perspectives.
What would you say to students who are unsure about getting involved in student politics?
Give it a shot. It's not very time-consuming, and everyone is super nice.
