At the overwiev of the candidates it is marked, which elections will be held with voting (contestet election) and which elections that are already settled (uncontestet election) because of too few candidates or prioritized ranking.
The contested elections are marked with green. The already elected candidates are underlined.
As a candidate for a contested election you have the opportunity to prepare a presentation of yourself, which will be publised on the election website. The offer is voluntary as all the approved candidates for contested elections will be listed on the election website.
How to send your presentation:
- Fill out the PowerPoint presentation - download The PowerPoint file (UK) or PowerPoint file (DK)
- Insert a picture in the presentation
- Send an email to the Election Secretariat at valgsekretariatet@adm.aau.dk with the PowerPoint presentation in pdf file format attached (DEADLINE 17 November 2023 at 14:00)
The presentations will be published on The Election Website Friday 24 November at 14:00.
If you run for a council or board, but are not elected, you will instead be able to act as a substitute member. It is therefore positive if there are more candidates than there are seats, as it will then be able to call in another member when needed.
Read more about when substitutes are called in and who is called in as substitutes.
The deadline for submitting your candidate list for AAU Elections 2023 had expired.
You stand for the election by either creating a candidate list yourself in the election system or by accepting an electronic invitation to run on someone else's candidate list. You will receive the list invitation via your AAU e-mail. Whether you are running alone or with others, you need to stand on a candidate list.
If questions or challenges arise in connection with the registration, please contact the Election Secretariat.
Naming a candidate list
It is up to you to decide the name of your candidate list, but the name of the list must not indicate which sub-election the list relates to. For example, you must not name your list "Study Board of xxx" or "Department of xxx" - nor a known abbreviation for this. If you do not stand for any associations, and there is only yourself on the list, you can, for example, choose to name the list with your own name.
Equal or prioritised ranking?
Equal ranking means that the candidates' personal votes are decisive for the result.
Prioritised ranking means that the candidates who are first on the list are typically elected first.
Read more about the meaning of ranking under Rules. If you do not run with others but only on your own list, it does not matter whether you choose ranked or prioritised ranking.
Specific terms in connection to The University Board
Specific terms when you stand for The University Board:
When standing for the election to The University Board, 10 supporters must be listed for each candidate list. The supporters must be eligible for the sub-election in question, and you cannot be a supporter for your own list of candidates. The Guide to Online Candidate Application states how to list supporters. At least 10 supporters must have confirmed to be supporters for the candidate list in question by the deadline (27 October at 12:00 noon) in order for the list to be approved.
Please note that the business language in the governing bodies at AAU primarily is Danish.
If you, as a student, are a member of a student organisation that deals with the study environment and student policy, either within your own degree programme or across faculties, it may be relevant for your organisation that you or other members stand for election.
A student organisation can nominate students on its list. In this way, the organisation receives financial grant from the university if the organisation's list or a member from the organisation's list is elected. Refer to "Election grant for students - procedures" (in Danish).
How to make a coalition list
Below you will find the approved coalition lists for Ordinary Election 2023 at AAU:
Approved coalition lists Ordinary Election 2023

A coalition list is created by a list coordinator for an approved candidate list logging into the election system, creating a coalition list and adding other approved candidate lists to the coalition list.

Guide to submission of a coalition list
Please note that a candidate list can only be included in one coalition list for the same sub-election. Please also note that the name of the coalition list must not indicate which election (body) is involved. For example, it is not allowed to call your coalition list "Coalition list to Study Board of xxx" or "Coalition to Department Council of xxx" or a known abbreviation thereof.
Contact the Election Secretariat in case of questions or problems with notifying electoral pacts.
What is the significance of an electoral pact?
Electoral pacts are considered as one list in connection with the calculation of the distribution of seats. In some cases, this may mean that the lists that are part of the pact together get one more seat than if they were not part of a pact. By joining an electoral pact, the participating candidate lists and candidates can in some situations gain a seat advantage.
You can see examples of the significance of electoral pacts for the calculation of the distribution of sets under description of the D’Hondtske Method.
